MANILA, Philippines - The Parañaque City government said yesterday it will strictly implement an ordinance that penalizes drunk driving for motorcyclists.
Violators of Ordinance 01-07, passed in 2001, will be fined P5,000, jailed, and have their driver’s license revoked, the city government said.
The implementation of the ordinance is part of the city’s Oplan Ligtas Pasko scheme, which aims to ensure peace and order during the holidays.
As part of an information campaign, the city government talked to business establishments dealing with alcoholic drinks and distributed fliers to remind business owners “to strictly observe the prohibition against serving alcoholic drinks to minors (and) the closing time of 1 a.m.”
