Rape suspect nabbed in Navotas
MANILA, Philippines - A man accused of raping a 16-year-old girl two years ago was arrested Saturday night after another girl complained that he tried to kidnap her when he went to Navotas City to visit his mother.
Deejay Ortega, 22, was arrested at his mother’s house on Everlasting Interior street in Barangay San Roque at around 7 p.m., barangay chairman Totie Ocampo said.
Ocampo said Ortega is the subject of a warrant of arrest issued by the Malabon City Regional Trial Court Branch 169 for the rape of a 16-year-old girl in May 2010. No bail was recommended.
Ortega reportedly convinced the girl to accompany him to the roof of his sister’s house in Malabon, where he allegedly raped her.
Last week, Ocampo learned that Ortega visited his mother after another girl went to the barangay hall to file a complaint, saying the suspect tried to abduct her.
Ocampo sought the help of Police Officer 2 Josue Lauron, who conducted a weeklong surveillance at the house of Ortega’s mother.
