Erap vows to ‘save’ Manila

Jose Rodel Clapano - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Former President Joseph Estrada, who is running for Manila mayor in the 2013 mid-term elections, said yesterday that he will work double time to save the city from further decay once he takes over the Manila City Hall from incumbent Mayor Alfredo Lim.

Estrada is confident that Manileños will support him, saying they are witness on how Lim failed to improve Manila.

“I must work 24 hours a day to save Manila from further decay. There has been no progress at all under Lim’s leadership,” he said.

He said the city of Manila has been left behind by its neighboring cities.

Manila has the biggest number of poor Filipinos, Estrada added.

The former President said Lim must remember that he was just his creation.

“I was the one who made him popular. I endorsed him during the 2007 elections for him to become mayor,” he said.
