Family of four nabbed for gunrunning, drugs

MANILA, Philippines - A man and three members of his family were arrested in Parañaque City Thursday for alleged gunrunning, drug pushing and raising a marijuana plant.

Ferdie Rodriguez, 45; his wife Rowena, 44; daughter Ronalyn, 25; and Ferdie’s brother, Albert, 39; were nabbed in a gun bust at the Rodriguez Villa Isla Compound in Barangay San Dionisio at about 6:30 p.m.

Chief Superintendent Benito Estipona, director of the Southern Police District, said Parañaque police officers posed as buyers of a .38 caliber revolver from Ferdie, who was arrested after the deal was sealed.

Police officers searched the area and seized 14 sachets of dried marijuana leaves from Rowena, another 25 sachets from Ronalyn and 10 sachets from Albert.

Police officers also found a brick of dried marijuana leaves, 38 more sachets and a marijuana plant in the family’s backyard.
