MANILA, Philippines - A 21-year-old security guard was killed after he was hit by a Philippine National Railways (PNR) train in Pandacan, Manila yesterday.
Police Officer 3 Jeffrey Reyes said the body of Michael Antonio was severed as he was dragged some 50 meters after the accident.
Reyes said the victim was crossing the tracks to buy pan de sal when two trains, one on the way to Tutuban in Divisoria and the other going to Alabang, arrived.
Witnesses said Antonio was able to avoid the southbound train but did not notice that another train from the northbound rail was approaching.
Lorie Arcebo, a resident in the area, said the victim apparently did not hear shouts from the residents that a train was coming.
