MANILA, Philippines - Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director General Nicanor Bartolome yesterday announced the release of the yearend bonus of the 148,000 policemen nationwide as an early Christmas gift.
Bartolome said the PNP Finance Service released to the different Police Regional Offices and National Support Units the checks amounting to P1.932 billion.
“The yearend bonus represents 50 percent of the 13th month pay and other cash benefits mandated by law for all government workers,” he said.
The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) earlier approved a P1.932-billion allotment to pay for the yearend bonus of PNP personnel.
Bartolome said half of the 13th month pay was released by the PNP in May 2012.
He said the bonus of policemen with pending administrative and criminal cases was withheld as a disciplinary policy.
