PDEA destroys P13-M shabu chemicals, equipment

MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) destroyed yesterday P13 million worth of chemicals and laboratory equipment confiscated in raids on drug laboratories all over the country.

PDEA director general Arturo Cacdac led the burning of 387 liters of liquid chemicals and 6,000 kilos of solid chemicals and assorted equipment at the Green Planet Management Inc. treatment plant in Barangay Punturin, Valenzuela.

Cacdac said this was meant to assure the public that no seized illegal drugs are being recycled or peddled back to the streets. “The PDEA will continue to regularly conduct this activity, the third for this year, with transparency,” he said.

He said that this year alone, the anti-drug agency was able to destroy P826.3 million worth of illegal drugs, chemicals and equipment seized during operations by PDEA and its support units. – Pete Laude, Jerry Botial
