Reinir Padua - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - A retired policeman reported that his wife and companion were wounded in an ambush as he was driving them home in Fairview, Quezon City Wednesday night.

Eduardo Valle, 47, emerged unscathed from the incident, said Superintendent Virgilio Fabian, commander of the Quezon City Police District Station 5.

Valle’s wife, Czarina, suffered a gunshot wound in the abdomen while a bullet grazed the right forearm of their companion, Freda Gallego. Both women were brought to the hospital for treatment.

The Valles are moneylenders and were on their way home to Bulacan from Camp Crame when they were attacked.

Eduardo was driving a Toyota Innova when they were purportedly attacked along Commonwealth Avenue near the Tullahan Bridge at past 9 p.m.

According to the report they filed before the police, two men came from behind the Innova and shot at them. Based on slugs recovered, a .45 caliber pistol was used. After the attack, the two gunmen supposedly walked away.

Fabian said Eduardo had a handgun with him at that time but failed to shoot at their attackers.
