Raps filed vs cop in motel murder

Sandy Araneta - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The Manila Police District (MPD) has filed murder charges against a policeman accused of killing his partner in front of their two children at a motel in Manila on Nov. 4.

Records show that Police Officer 3 Ronald Fontejon, a member of the Police Security and Protection Group, was charged before the Manila prosecutor’s office Friday night. Assistant City Prosecutor Jovencio Senados will handle his case.

Fontejon is accused of strangling Kylie Ann Barroca after they, along with two children, checked into the Beehive Traveler’s Inn. He was seen leaving the inn alone.

A room attendant found Barroca’s body in the bathroom and the two children, ages two and four, crying on the bed after Fontejon left. The children have been placed in the custody of the Department of Social Welfare and Development.

Police sources said Fontejon had a child with Barroca even though he is still married to another woman. His wife was often seen at the MPD detention center after he was arrested.

Insiders alleged that Fontejon and Barroca may have fought because Barroca’s other child was reportedly not the policeman’s. Fontejon and his wife have remained silent on the case.

The city government’s social welfare office, according to reports, said it may arrange for a free burial for Barocca at the Manila North Cemetery.
