‘James Bond’ killed in 11-vehicle smashup

MANILA, Philippines - A man was thrown off his motorcycle and killed in an 11-vehicle collision along C-5 Road in Barangay East Rembo, Makati City yesterday afternoon.

James Bond Cuaterno was the lone fatality in the mishap, though eight others were injured after six cars and four motorcycles were hit by a truck (RLD-314) loaded with soft drinks, driven by Normalito Rumbaoa, near the elevated U-turn along the C-5 Road’s northbound lane.

According to city police chief Senior Superintendent Manuel Lukban, the truck lost its brakes at around 2 p.m., hitting the cars and motorcycles, one of which was driven by Cuaterno, of Barangay Kali in Novaliches, Quezon City.

The city’s rescue team identified one of the eight injured as Bonie Ambion, 35, a resident of Signal Village, Taguig City. Those injured were brought to the Ospital ng Makati for treatment of bruises.
