Ex-general’s son pleads not guilty to killing guard
MANILA, Philippines - The son of a former police general pleaded not guilty yesterday to homicide charges filed against him over the death of a security guard of a drug rehabilitation center last month.
Jose Marie Abaya – son of retired Philippine Constabulary general Antonio Abaya and reportedly a nephew of former Armed Forces of the Philippines chief of staff Narciso Abaya – was arrested on Oct. 20 after he reportedly shot dead security guard Roger Biquit and wounded Biquit’s fellow guard, Richard Reyes.
The two guards, both employed at the Silvercrest Foundation, were sent to Abaya’s house after he escaped from the drug rehabilitation facility the day before.
