MANILA, Philippines - Two men were arrested in Manuyo Dos, Las Piñas City yesterday for allegedly impersonating National Police Commission (Napolcom) agents.
Herodin Morino, 30, and Jayson Togonoy, 31, were riding a motorcycle without license plates when they were flagged down by police officers and barangay watchmen on patrol in Martinville at around 3:30 a.m.
Chief Superintendent Benito Estipona, Southern Police District director, said Morino was wearing a black jacket with Napolcom markings. “When the arresting officers accosted them, they introduced themselves as Napolcom agents assigned at the office of the agency’s vice chairman” but could not present identification cards, he said.
Estipona said Morino and Togonoy will be charged with usurpation for authority and violation of the traffic code.
