Real estate broker hangs self

MANILA, Philippines - Desperate over his low income, a 32-year-old real estate broker allegedly hanged himself in Mandaluyong City Tuesday.

Chief Inspector Carlito Canlas, chief of the Mandaluyong police criminal investigation unit, identified the suicide victim as Janlee Lorenzo.

Lorenzo was discovered hanging by his sister, Jill Ann, 30, inside their rented apartment at 128-G Francisco street, Barangay Plainview at 2:03 p.m.

Canlas said a nylon cord was looped around the victim’s neck.

Jill Ann told police that she rushed home accompanied by her co-worker, Josefa Ramos, after the victim’s wife, Mary Ann, requested her to check on her brother.

Mary Ann, who is in Singapore, told Jill Ann that her husband was despondent over the low sales of their real estate business.

During his last conversation with his wife, Lorenzo threatened to commit suicide. Jill Ann lost consciousness after seeing the body of her brother, according to Canlas.
