Alleged serial killer arrested in Manila
MANILA, Philippines - A man suspected of killing at least eight persons at the Baseco Compound in Port Area, Manila this year alone was arrested Sunday.
The Manila Police District presented security guard Mohalidin Guiamaludin, 41, to members of media yesterday.
“In my case folder alone I have at least eight cases of killings that points to him as the prime suspect. There are other police officers who are hunting him down for other cases. We have here a cold-blooded serial killer,” Police Officer 3 Rodel Benitez said.
He said Guiamaludin was allegedly involved in two killings in January, three in February, two in June and two last month.
Benitez said Guiamaludin is accused of killing of barangay official Manap Sapak and his wife, Soraida, on June 15.
He also reportedly shot dead Gerard Borden, 15; and Jeffrey Hopio, 20, on Sept. 9. Sources said Guiamaludin is an “enforcer” for a drug pusher in Baseco Compound and he killed the two victims just after they bought shabu from another pusher.
An insider said the suspect would also reportedly kill people for crossing him, as was the case of the Sapaks. Benitez said they have a witness who identified Guiamaludin as the Sapaks’ reported killer but they did not pursue the case since he was unable to secure a death certificate. The victims were buried within 24 hours after death, according to Muslim tradition.
Guiamaludin denied all the accusations, but Benitez said they have a strong case against him. The MPD is calling on relatives of other victims to come out and file charges against the suspect.
