Man nabbed for rape of 12-year-old nanny

MANILA, Philippines - A man was arrested yesterday for allegedly raping his children’s 12-year-old nanny repeatedly since April last year.

Police officers caught Ronilo Alvarez, 55, after a brief chase in Barangay Bambang, Pasig City at around 12:30 p.m. The victim and her father filed charges before the police in Camp Crame at around 5 p.m. Tuesday.

The girl told police that Alvarez, who is a relative, allegedly started raping her almost every day since she started working in April last year as his two children’s nanny. The near-daily rapes stopped in June.

Another relative reportedly caught Alvarez raping the girl on Oct. 9, prompting the victim to admit that Alvarez was indeed abusing her.

Police filed charges of child abuse and rape against Alvarez, who is being held in Camp Crame.
