MANILA, Philippines - A local policeman’s sister-in-law was arrested in a drug bust and yielded eight sachets of shabu in Caloocan City Saturday night.
Mary Janice Bonifacio, 32, was charged yesterday with drug pushing before Caloocan Prosecutor Nemia Gallo, who recommended no bail for the suspect, according to Chief Inspector Romeo Ricalde Jr., Northern Police District anti-narcotics division chief.
Bonifacio, a resident of Barangay 59, was arrested at around 11:50 p.m. near her house by a 10-man team led by Senior Police Officer 2 Fernando Gomboc after she handed a P500 sachet of shabu to an agent.
Ricalde said they searched Bonifacio and found a plastic bag that contained seven more sachets of shabu. The anti-narcotics police officers refused to name Bonifacio’s brother-in-law.
Sources allege that Bonifacio is a known drug pusher in the area and nearby barangays, and that she works with two other drug peddlers, identified only as Richie and Por-por.
Other insiders said Bonifacio is also a jewelry trader since her clients sometimes pay her in jewelry.
