MANILA, Philippines - A woman gave birth in a moving Light Rail Transit (LRT) Line 1 train yesterday.
LRT Authority corporate secretary and spokesman Hernando Cabrera said Evelyn Mondragon, 33, safely delivered a girl with the help of a fellow passenger, a nurse, at around 2:25 p.m.
Mondragon, accompanied by her husband Jun Ray Papauran, 33, traveled from their house in Bacoor, Cavite and had taken the train from Baclaran to go to the Fabella Hospital in Manila.
Cabrera said that Mondragon, her husband, and her infant daughter were assisted off the train at the Pedro Gil station by LRT personnel and rushed to the Philippine General Hospital.
The last childbirth at the LRT Line 1 occurred last Sept. 14 when Anita Paz gave birth to a boy at the Central station platform.
