2 boys figure in homicide, trike theft

MANILA, Philippines - Two 14-year-old boys have been accused of separate crimes over the weekend, one of killing his drinking buddy and the other of stealing a tricycle.

The first boy stabbed Jeffrey Bunyao, 19, following a heated argument yesterday between the victim and the boy’s older brother, Randy Supat, 21, in Quezon City.

Bunya was declared dead on arrival at the Fairview General Hospital at around 3:25 a.m. after suffering a stab wound in the chest.

According to a Quezon City Police District report, Bunyao was drinking with Supat, his younger brother and three others when the victim and Supat had an argument that led to a fistfight. This prompted the boy to pull a bladed weapon and stab the victim.

The brothers fled after the incident and remain at large.

Meanwhile, a boy from Quezon City was arrested while reportedly dismantling a stolen tricycle at a secluded lot in Valenzuela City Saturday.

Police Officer 3 Hoover Ireneo said the boy was apprehended in Barangay Marulas at around 10 a.m. A police team was patrolling along P. Deato street in Barangay Marulas when they saw the boy dismantling the tricycle (2882-XZ), Ireneo said. The boy failed to present ownership papers for the tricycle.

The police officers brought the boy and the tricycle to the police station and learned that he is a resident of Batasan Road in Quezon City and that the tricycle, owned by Erlinda Cabalida, was stolen in Barangay Holy Spirit Friday night.

The boy was turned over to the custody of the Quezon City Police District. Valenzuela police investigators also coordinated with the QCPD for the identification and arrest of the boy’s accomplices.
