MANILA, Philippines - Two alleged robbers were killed in an encounter with policemen in Barangay San Bartolome, Quezon City Wednesday night.
Chief Superintendent Mario dela Vega, director of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD), said the two suspects remained unidentified.
Superintendent Crisostomo Mendoza, commander of the QCPD Station 4, said the two men were among the three who allegedly robbed the passengers of a van used as a public utility vehicle.
Victims Marry Dhee Sodoy and Juliet Mercado accompanied police officers as they searched the area. The lawmen spotted the suspects walking along Diamond Avenue, carrying the items taken from the victims.
The suspects allegedly shot at the policemen, prompting the latter to retaliate. Chief Inspector Rodel Marcelo, head of the QCPD’s Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit, said investigators recovered from each suspect a caliber .38 revolver.
