MANILA, Philippines - A woman gave birth at the Light Rail Transit (LRT) Line 1’s Central station yesterday.

LRT Authority spokesman Hernando Cabrera said Anita Paz, 37, boarded a train at the EDSA station and was on her way to the Fabella Memorial Hospital when she went into labor.

Cabrera said Paz’s water bag broke on the train, prompting fellow passenger Amelita Clemenia – who worked as a caregiver in Kuwait – to assist her in getting off at the nearest station.

Paz gave birth to a baby boy at around 1:05 p.m. with the help of LRT nurse Abigail Batongbakal.

Cabrera said Paz and her baby, named Jeb, are in stable condition and are confined at the Fabella Memorial Hospital.
