Burglars loot cop's house
MANILA, Philippines - Burglars broke into a police officer’s house in Caloocan City before dawn yesterday, taking his laptop, keys and wallet.
Inspector Michael Mendoza, assigned at the Philippine National Police engineering service at Camp Crame said he discovered the break-in as he was preparing to report for work at around 6:20 a.m.
Police Officer 2 Cesar Garcia said the burglars destroyed a back window, then took Mendoza’s wallet – which contained P20,000 and important documents – and a set of keys he left on top of the refrigerator.
The burglars used one of the keys to open the door of Mendoza’s car and take his ring worth P30,000 and a laptop valued at around P35,000, Garcia said.
Mendoza told investigators that the burglars “seemed familiar” with his house and his belongings.
