Helper now a suspect in baby's kidnap
MANILA, Philippines – A woman who works as a helper for a mother whose newborn baby was allegedly stolen from a Quezon City hospital is now considered a suspect, Quezon City Police District (QCPD) director Chief Superintendent Mario dela Vega said yesterday.
In an interview, Dela Vega said Ma. Cecilia delos Santos aired her suspicion that the helper – whose name he refused to divulge – could have been involved in her child’s kidnap. She said the helper insisted that the infant should be with the mother when the baby should have been in the nursery.
Delos Santos claimed a woman who had posed as a doctor took her child while she was at the obstetrics ward of the Sta. Teresita Hospital, supposedly for newborn screening.
According to Senior Inspector Rowena Lambojo, head of the QCPD’s Women and Children Protection Desk, said the maid has agreed to undergo a lie detector test. They do not know when the result of the test will be available, she said.
