'Salvage' victim stuffed in box

MANILA, Philippines - The body of an unidentified man, believed to have been a victim of “salvaging” or summary execution, was found stuffed inside a box and dumped in a pile of garbage along Pasig Extension in Barangay 35, Caloocan City Friday.

Investigators said a nylon cord was looped around the man’s neck and his body bore several stab wounds. The box was sealed with packaging tape while a note was left on the body. “Holdaper ako, kayo na ang susunod (I am a robber, you’re next),” the note read.

Witnesses described the victim as between 35 and 40 years old and bore a tattoo of the word “commando” on his back.
