Rookie cop killed in Internet shop
MANILA, Philippines - An unidentified man shot dead a policeman who was playing a computer game at an Internet shop in Tondo, Manila Wednesday night.
Police Officer 1 Anthony Frias, 26, assigned at the Regional Public Safety Battalion at the National Capital Region Police Office, was attacked at around 10:30 p.m. as he was playing Defense of the Ancients at Choi’s Computer Shop along Capulong Highway.
His partner, Melissa Mateo, said the gunman was around five feet tall and between 30 and 35 years old. He was armed with a .40 caliber pistol.
A stray bullet hit Kristille Calilung, 19, a management student at the Universidad de Manila, but she was declared out of danger.
The killer fled with an accomplice, who was on a motorcycle a few meters from the computer shop.
Investigators are looking into Frias’ activities to determine the motive for his murder.
