MPD top cop shoots robber dead
MANILA, Philippines – The commander of the Manila Police District (MPD) Station 1 allegedly shot and killed yesterday a suspected robber who was scuffling for gun possession with a police investigator.
MPD Station 1 chief Superintendent Alexander Navarette shot the suspect identified as Michael Dadula, 27.
Dadula died at the Tondo General Hospital.
Desk officer PO3 Ulysses Fajardo said the suspect was taken to the Tondo police station after he was identified by his victim, Jinky Mercado, as the one who robbed her in a passenger jeepney.
PO3 Marianito Navida was grilling Dadula when the suspect grabbed the policeman’s 9mm pistol.
Navarette was passing by when he saw the commotion, prompting him to shoot the suspect.
Meanwhile, the MPD stepped up security and police visibility in the city after bomb parts were found inside a pension house in Ermita Tuesday.
Chief Inspector Erwin Margarejo, MPD spokesman, said they have released the artist sketch of the suspected bomber in an effort to arrest him.
Margarejo allayed fears that the man could be out to sow terror.
