MANILA, Philippines - Two alleged robbers were killed after they engaged policemen in a shootout in Novaliches, Quezon City Tuesday night.
Quezon City Police District director Chief Superintendent Mario dela Vega said they have yet to identify the slain suspects.
Dela Vega said the suspects were responsible for the series of robberies in Fairview, Novaliches, Commonwealth Avenue and Barangay Batasan.
Prior to the shootout, the suspects robbed Angeleah Manzon of P50,000 cash and other valuables in front of a supermarket along General Luis street at 8 p.m., according to QCPD Station 4 commander Superintendent Crisostomo Mendoza.
Patrolling policemen chanced upon the fleeing suspects on a motorcycle and pursued them.
When cornered on Pasacola street, the suspects opened fire at the policemen, prompting them to retaliate, killing the two suspects on the spot.
Recovered from the suspects were Manzon’s belongings except for the cash.
Robbery victims Anna Venusa Mapano and TV5 employee Marie Grace Napay identified the suspects as the men who victimized them recently.
Police seized the suspects’ Honda Wave motorcycle without license plates.
