MANILA, Philippines - A man was arrested yesterday after he allegedly broke into the house of a Caloocan City government employee and took the victim’s kitchen appliances.
Jimson Montes, 19, was caught at his house in Camarin with an improvised shotgun, minus the stolen kitchen appliances.
Police said city hall employee Cezar Roco, 59, was awakened by a clatter in his kitchen at about 2:30 a.m.
When he checked the noise, he saw Montes, a neighbor, allegedly placing his stove in a sack. Roco confronted the suspect but instead of cowering, Montes threatened to shoot the victim and warned him not to ask for help.
Montes also placed the victim’s rice cooker in the sack before escaping. When Montes was gone, Roco immediately sought the help of the police.
Montes was linked to a number of recent burglaries in their area, police said.
