Manila, Philippines - A truck carrying more than P1 million worth of milk products was hijacked in Quezon City before dawn yesterday.
Senior Police Officer 1 Eric Lazo said driver Arnel Calo, 36, told police that a man wearing a police uniform signaled him to stop along Mindanao Avenue, beside the Veterans Memorial Medical Center, at around 1 a.m. As Calo handed the man his driver’s license, two other men boarded the cargo truck.
The three hijackers took over the 10-wheeler (DVG-370), owned by Espino Trucking Co., and took Calo and helpers Lorebert Aldovino, 28; and Dennis Galasi, 27, hostage.
Calo said the hijackers unloaded the truck’s cargo, which was bound for a warehouse in Pampanga, then abandoned them and the vehicle in Sampaloc, Manila.
