Man buying milk for newborn shot dead
MANILA, Philippines - A vendor who was on his way home after buying a can of milk for his newborn child was shot dead in Caloocan City at past midnight yesterday.
Ronald Robles, 32, a resident of Heroes del ‘96 in Barangay 74, died on the spot from a gunshot wound in the head.
A witness told police that Robles was walking home along Villanueva street on Heroes del ‘96 with another neighbor after buying milk at a nearby store when a man approached him from behind and shot him at around 12:10 a.m. The unidentified gunman fled on foot.
Investigators, led by Chief Inspector Benigno Asilar Jr., recovered four 9mm shells and two slugs at the crime scene.
Senior Superintendent Jude Santos, city police chief, ordered a deeper investigation of the killing.
