MANILA, Philippines - A 51-year-old government employee said yesterday he won the P72-million prize of the July 31 6/49 Super Lotto draw by using the building permit number of a chapel in his hometown in Davao.
The winner, accompanied by his wife, claimed the prize at the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office headquarters in Pasay City yesterday.
He said he maintained the six-digit combination of 2-28-10-07-38-8 for the past five years after he saw the numbers posted at the construction site of their chapel in Davao.
The winning ticket was bought from a lotto outlet in Sampaloc, Manila where the government employee works.
The winner said he would return to his hometown and donate part of the prize money to finish the construction of their chapel. He will also save some money for the education of his two children.
