MANILA, Philippines - The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) served the suspension order on Quezon City Councilor Roderick Paulate and other city officials for maintaining ghost employees yesterday afternoon.
DILG Secretary Jesse Robredo said the suspension order was served on Paulate along with Councilor Francisco Calalay Jr. and liaison officers Flordeliza Alvarez and Vicente Bajamunde.
“Suspension implemented today,” Robredo said in a text message to The STAR.
The Quezon City officials are facing charges of serious dishonesty, gross neglect of duty, grave misconduct, falsification of official documents, and conduct grossly prejudicial to the best interest of service.
Paulate and his co-respondents will be given chance to answer the charges.
Paulate and Calalay were not around when a DILG team led by officer Director 1 Jovian Engeniero served the suspension order.
Ombudsman Conchita Carpio Morales had earlier found sufficient grounds to suspend them for six months without pay.
