DPWH builds ramp for PWDs on Commonwealth Avenue
Manila, Philippines - Persons with disabilities (PWDs) will now have an easier time reaching the government agency attending to their needs after the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) constructed an accessible ramp along Commonwealth Avenue in Quezon City.
The DPWH-National Capital Region yesterday inaugurated the P5.1 million accessible ramp linked to the footbridge fronting the Ever Gotesco mall.
DPWH-NCR regional director Reynaldo Tagudando said it was the fifth access ramp built in the area. However, this is the only access ramp that would primarily cater to PWDs.
“We constructed this particular access ramp upon the request of the PWDs since the National Council on Disability Affairs (NCDA) is located in this area,” said Tagudando.
“This was built on the request of the PWDs. This accessible ramp was constructed primarily for the PWDs but anybody can use it,” he added.
He said PWDs have been experiencing difficulty in going to and from the NCDA office.
