MANILA, Philippines - Six Japanese policemen arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1 yesterday, reportedly to investigate the source of a Philippine-made gun used to kill three Filipina workers in Tokyo in 1995.
The group – among them Akira Takii, Akio Nara, Hoshinari Ikegami and Yokio Chiba – were met at the airport by a Japanese embassy official, who refused to comment on the case.
The Japanese policemen brought with them the handgun to find out how it made its way to Japan and came to be used by a criminal syndicate. Ballistic tests done on the gun revealed that it was the same gun used in the killing of the Filipina workers.
The group is scheduled to visit the Philippine National Police’s Criminal Investigation and Detection Group to ask for help in the case.
