QCPD forms anti-piracy teams

- Reinir Padua - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Quezon City Police District director Chief Superintendent Mario dela Vega ordered Friday the formation of teams to monitor and prevent the proliferation of pirated films.

Dela Vega said a team will be formed in each of the 12 stations of the QCPD in the city police’s anti-piracy drive. The QCPD chief made the commitment following a meeting with Optical Media Board chairman Ronnie Ricketts on Thursday.

“Our commitment (to Ricketts) is that we will create dedicated teams for this purpose only,” he said.

According to dela Vega, the teams, composed of two to three policemen, will be assigned to do the rounds of sidewalks and markets to monitor if there are pirated films being peddled there.
