MANILA, Philippines - A Czech man said yesterday he found it was not quite “more fun” in the Philippines after he lost P50,000 to a gang who drugged him and stole his automated teller machine (ATM) card.
Pavel Dudek, 24, came to the country a week ago and stayed at the Friendly Guest House in Ermita, Manila.
Dudek said he was walking at around 10 a.m. yesterday along P. Burgos street when a woman who introduced herself as Nicole befriended him. He said they decided to visit the Chinatown in Binondo where another woman, Heidi, approached them and introduced herself as Nicole’s friend. Minutes later, three other women joined them.
Dudek said while they were dining, the women enticed him to drink and told him they could save money if they would just drink in one of their houses. He said he was taken to Parañaque, according to one of the girls.
However, he claimed that after consuming one bottle he felt dizzy and lost consciousness. He said when he regained his senses, he was alone in the house but found that his ATM card and other valuables were missing.
A text message from his bank informed him that he had several transactions that day amounting to P50,000. Dudek left the country yesterday, vowing to warn his countrymen about his ordeal.
