Asistio son arrested for robbery
Manila, Philippines - A son of former Caloocan City congressman Luis “Baby” Asistio was arrested Wednesday on charges of robbery with physical injuries after being in hiding for at least three years.
Luis “Peting” Asistio Jr., 45, of Barangay 71, was nabbed by a team led by Senior Inspector Gaylord Tamayo at around 6:30 a.m. along Samson Road in Monumento.
Chief Inspector Rodrigo Soriano, Caloocan City police investigation chief, said Judge Thelma Canlas Trinidad-Pe Aguirre of Regional Trial Court Branch 129 issued a warrant for Asistio’s arrest in 2009.
Pe-Aguirre set bail at P100,000 for Asistio, who was turned over yesterday morning to the Caloocan City Bureau of Jail Management and Penology.
A team from the Pampanga police, led by Chief Inspector Arnold Ibay, arrived too late to take custody of Asistio, who is also the subject of arrest warrants issued by an Angeles City court for a drug offense and attempted kidnapping.
He did not elaborate on the cases against Asistio in Pampanga.
