Cargo truck kills motorbike rider

MANILA, Philippines - A speeding cargo truck hit a motorcycle rider along C-3 Road in Caloocan City Sunday night.

Alejandro Hipolito, 28, was declared dead on arrival at the President Diosdado Macapagal Memorial Medical Center after he was thrown a few meters from his motorcycle. He was not wearing a helmet.

His motorcycle was run over by the truck, driven by Jun-Jun Caluma, 25, who told police he failed to notice the victim because the area is poorly lit. He was arrested and faces charges of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and damage to property.
