2 'cops' rob delivery truck driver in Malabon

- Pete Laude - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Two men wearing police uniforms robbed the driver of a delivery truck in Barangay Niugan, Malabon City yesterday morning.

Jefferson Guevarra, 27, had just delivered chickens to the Niugan public market and was approaching the corner of Soriano and F. Nicolas streets when he was flagged down by two men riding a black motorcycle (5069 PA) at around 10:30 a.m.

Witness Sammy Villa said the men, armed with handguns, told Guevarra that they were police officers conducting routine inspections of delivery trucks passing the area.

“The street corner was narrow so the driver was obliged to open his vehicle’s door,” Villa told The STAR.

The suspects boarded Guevarra’s truck then grabbed his bag, which contained two cell phones, a P15,000 check, P7,300 and important documents.

After taking the bag, the robbers went back to their motorcycle but its engine failed. They left the motorcycle and commandeered a passing tricycle.

Villa said that the robbers alighted at a bridge linking Barangay Niugan and Barangay Catmon.

He said the police checked the motorcycle’s compartment and found a photocopy of its registration papers in the name of Cesar Tugano of Barangay Holy Spirit, Quezon City.
