MANILA, Philippines - Five persons were hurt in two separate traffic accidents involving tricycles in Quezon City and Manila yesterday.

Darwin Campo, Paul John del Rosario and Andy Gallardo were injured when a van rammed the tricycle they were riding at the corner of IBP Road and Commonwealth Avenue in Quezon City yesterday morning. They are currently confined at a hospital.

Tricycle driver Ricky Causado said the van, which had no license plate, hit the side of his vehicle so hard his passengers were thrown out of the tricycle.

At around 1:30 p.m. yesterday, two persons were hurt when an 18-wheeler truck sideswiped a tricycle along Road 10 in Tondo, Manila.

According to Police Officer 2 Roberto Lorenzo, a car hit the tricycle first. The tricycle then swerved and was sideswiped by the truck, driven by Dexter Sanchez. The car allegedly sped off after the incident.

Tricycle driver Leddy Ticardal, 42, was listed in critical condition at the Philippine General Hospital. His passenger, Ely Bonque, 16, was declared out of danger at the Gat Andres Bonifacio Hospital in Tondo.
