Annabelle wants Nadia cited for contempt
MANILA, Philippines - Annabelle Rama has asked a Quezon City court to cite Nadia Montenegro for indirect contempt following the latter’s comments on the lifting of a warrant for her arrest for libel.
Rama filed a civil complaint against Montenegro last Friday. The case was raffled off to Judge Santiago Arenas of the Quezon City Regional Trial Court Branch 217.
Rama referred to a tweet of Montenegro on June 18 after Judge Eleuterio Bathan of RTC Branch 92 recalled the warrant he earlier issued for Rama’s arrest.
The tweet purportedly read: “May MILAGRO na naman na nangyari (A miracle happened.) I’m gonna get to the bottom of this! #mgabayaran.”
Rama said Montenegro’s tweet ridiculed her and the court.
“Worse, it puts the honorable RTC of Quezon City Branch 92 in an awkward position, that is, the statement implied that the court received payment, prompting the recall of the arrest warrant,” she said in her complaint.
Fourteen counts of libel filed by Montenegro against Rama are pending at the sala of Judge Bathan.
The feud between the two stemmed from allegations that Rama committed child abuse in managing the showbiz careers of Montenegro’s teenaged daughters.
