MANILA, Philippines - An ice cream vendor was shot by an alleged crime gang member who mistook the victim for a police informant in Malabon City Saturday afternoon.
Vincent Cabuenga, 31, a resident of Barangay Ibaba in Malabon, was rushed to the Dr. Jose Reyes Memorial Medical Center due to a gunshot wound in the head.
His attacker, identified only as Koreano, is reportedly a member of the Siete Bulabog gang based in Letre. He remains at large.
Sources said Cabuenga was about to remit his earnings for the day to his boss at the Flovie Home Subdivision in Letre at around 4:30 p.m. when he was shot. They said the gang usually considers “new faces” in their turf as police informants.
Police said the gang’s members are contract killers and robbers, and have been linked to at least 20 murders in the area over the past few months.
