Girl, scolded by aunt, kills self
MANILA, Philippines - An 18-year-old girl who was admonished by her aunt for drinking with a group of male teenagers in the wee hours of the morning committed suicide by drinking silver cleaner solution in Sta. Ana, Manila yesterday.
“The mother of the victim initially thought that her daughter was just drunk, but she became hysterical when she saw the silver cleaner in the hands of Necalyn Capili,” Senior Police Officer 1 Charles Duran said.
It was Capili’s second suicide attempt. Last year, she also drank silver cleaner after her parents scolded her for mingling with a group of men in the neighborhood.
Duran said the aunt was very angry when her niece went out at 2:30 a.m. and told her to go home.
Capili’s family refused to have her death investigated, insisting there was no foul play involved.
