Maid steals P.5 M hours after being hired

- Jerry Botial - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - A 29-year-old housewife lost nearly P.5-M in cash and jewelry when a woman she hired as a housemaid only a few hours earlier ran away with the loot yesterday afternoon.

Allaiza Go, a resident of Grace Park, Caloocan City, told Police Officer 2 Alejandro Billedo Jr. that at around 9 a.m., a neighbor referred “Liza” to her. Go, who has a baby, told Billedo that she hired the woman without much ado.

She gave Liza P3,000 to pay the power bill while she and a niece went to a nearby mall to shop for groceries. When she came back at around 2 p.m., Go found her apartment had been ransacked and the newly hired maid missing.
