Lim cites outstanding officials, employees
MANILA, Philippines - Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim yesterday recognized outstanding city officials and employees as well as senior citizens in separate ceremonies held at the city hall and San Andres Complex as part of the celebration of the city’s 441st anniversary on June 24.
A total of 328 employees, who have served the city for 20, 30, and 40 years were given loyalty awards by Lim.
They also received plaques and cash incentives amounting to P5.2 million.
Lim was joined by secretary to the mayor Rafaelito Garayblas, city administrator Jay Marzan, city personnel chief Redencion Caimbon and media bureau chief Ric de Guzman during the awarding ceremonies.
Lim also gave due recognition to elders representing the city’s districts, among them two centenarians identified as Maria Bondoc Mallari and Maria Manalo.
The elders received bags of goodies and cash gifts.
The mayor said it was the city government’s way of honoring the employees for their contribution to the city’s progress.
Meanwhile, Lim denied the city is financially bankrupt, saying the city government did not raise taxes since there is still enough money available in the coffers.
