MANILA, Philippines - The Department of Health is closely monitoring Makati and Manila after experts observed a significant increase in dengue cases in the two cities, an official said yesterday.
“There are many areas in Metro Manila where we have recorded a drop in dengue cases, but we are closely looking at Makati, which posted a 30-percent increase, as well as Manila, which recorded a 51-percent growth in dengue cases,” Health Secretary Enrique Ona said.
He said he will meet with Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim and city health officials to discuss measures to prevent the spread of dengue in the city.
