MANILA, Philippines - New cafés and other commercial establishments are in, but oversized signboards are definitely out, the Intramuros Administration (IA) said yesterday.
“We are allowing the opening up of more fastfoods, cafés and other commercial establishments, but they have to follow the prescribed size of signboards,” IA chief Jose Capistrano said.
He said the IA has an existing policy specifying the size of buildings and signboards, but “there are a lot of establishments that are not compliant with the regulation because private land owners are not aware of the policy on architectural structures and therefore do not know what to do.”
Capistrano said they will come out with a manual to help the establishment owners. He added that those who will not comply will not be able to get a permit from the city government.
