MANILA, Philippines - The Quezon City government announced yesterday that the government will construct more than 800 socialized housing units for informal settler families in four housing sites in the city.
Secretary to the mayor and housing task force chairman Tadeo Palma informed Mayor Herbert Bautista that the city’s housing program will be expanded to include four additional projects this year. The first two sites are the Bistekville I in Barangay Payatas and Bistekville II in Barangay Kaligayahan.
Palma said negotiations have already started to jumpstart Bistekville III in Barangay Escopa and Bistekville IV in Barangay Culiat. The Quezon City Association of Filipino-Chinese Businessmen Inc., led by Bobby Chua-Ching, will finance 10 units, either in Escopa or in Culiat.
Palma said Bistekville V, also in Barangay Payatas; and Bistekville VI in Barangay North Fairview are also in the pipeline. Both sites will accommodate more than 200 informal settler families, he said.
