Lawmen to secure Caloocan schools

MANILA, Philippines - Police officers, traffic enforcers and village watchmen will be in full force on the streets today for tbe opening of classes in Caloocan City.

Public safety and traffic head Alfonso Sta. Maria said his department will deploy 150 traffic officers to help the local police force and the barangay tanods secure at least 89 public schools in the city.

Mayor Enrico Echiverri also assured students and parents yesterday that security measures “on the streets and at schools” are in place.

He tasked city police chief Senior Superintendent Jude Santos and barangay league president Ricojudge Echiverri to make sure that today’s opening of classes would be “smooth and orderly.”
