MANILA, Philippines - Students in Makati City will get free rides on jeepneys and discounted fares on tricycles tomorrow as schools open for the new school year.
In a statement, Mayor Jejomar Erwin Binay thanked the Unified Transport Federation of Makati (UTFM) and the Ang Bagong Makati Tricycle Federation (AB-MATRIFED) “for coming up with these initiatives that will bring much relief to students on the opening of classes on Monday.”
UTFM president Nerio Duka said they will offer free rides to students from 5 a.m. to 8 a.m. and from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
AB-MATRIFED president Alberto Galisim said they will give a P1 fare discount to students from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m. and from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
