HPG to probe Dingdong

- Bebot Sison Jr., Cecille Suerte Felipe -

MANILA, Philippines - The Highway Patrol Group (HPG) will look into the violation of actor Dingdong Dantes of the Philippine National Police (PNP‘s) “no plate, no travel” policy.

HPG director Chief Superintendent Leonardo Espina ordered his men to check on the vehicle of Dantes, whose black Chevrolet Suburban was sporting a commemorative plate with the word “Sixto” on the front bumper.

The sport utility vehicle’s rear fender had a regular license plate issued by the Land Transportation Office (LTO).

Dantes, Jose Sixto Dantes in real life, on Thursday graced the launching of the nationwide campaign initiated by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) to educate communities, particularly the youth, on disaster preparedness at Camp Crame.

Espina denied that the HPG had slowed down on its campaign against motorists violating the “no plate, no travel” rule, saying the unit had accosted about 26,000 violators since last September.
